Seeking to imbue Judaism with the prestige of the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, synagogues have a adopted a premium pricing strategy which has sent High Holy Day ticket prices skyrocketing.
Synagogues now charge hundreds of dollars for tickets to attend services for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, called the High Holy Days because they are among the most sacred in the Jewish calendar. Choice front-row seats now sell for as much as $360, compared with $150-$250 for their Christian counterparts at Radio City.
The expense of participating has become a simmering issue within the Jewish community. The National Jewish Outreach Program, a nonprofit that aims to provide basic religious education to Jews so they remain within the community, said its research on the impact of the costly tickets revealed that they were a turnoff and should be reconsidered.
But congregational leaders dismiss charges that ruthless price-gouging gives Judaism a bad name. “America is a capitalist country which idolizes entrepreneurs like Martha Stewart and Donald Trump,” said Rabbi Elichargyu Usurowitz. “Jacked up ticket costs prove that the Jew is the sharpest, shrewdest businessman of all.”
The rabbi stressed that worshippers are willing to pay for value and that nothing can beat the excitement of the Jewish holy day rituals. “From the first sonorous wail of the shofar to the last miserable drone of the cantor, the suffering of our people is laid bare,” he said. “How can scantily-clad Rockettes, a 3-D Flying Santa and a laser show compete with that?” Usurowitz added that no gift-exchanging ceremony could ever top Yom Kippur’s cleansing ritual of humiliating forced apologies.
Similar pricing strategies have enhanced Judaism’s public image by compelling official governmental recognition of the faith. Last April, Semitic price-gouging of Passover food attracted the attention of the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs. But some rabbis dismissed this success, attributing the appeal instead to the bitter horseradish consumed at the infant slaughter celebration.

What I understand from this quote is that --- It is best to get raped (financially) by your own people (jews) than by a Broadway show( which jews have the corner stone of )( It's a win-win situation for those whom collect the money). This should prove that people started religion as a get rich quick scheme. Why should I or anyone else be surprised by this; rabbis, priests, and mullahs charge for their services. What happened to "doing gods work". They(all of them) charge you to pray for them, marry you, comfort you and any other religious service you can think of. It's pathetic how people follow them. Here is a quote from all religions---"Beware of false prophets".

That was beautiful.
