Ashli Surgery Update

June 22, 2009 | 6 Comments

Ashli is out of surgery. The surgeon said that the procedure went very well. There was no need for any transfusions, which are otherwise common in this sort of operation. As it turns out, Ashli will not require placement in the ICU, although her condition will, of course, be carefully monitored.

The surgeon is adhering to his original, tentative diagnosis of a (relatively non-threatening) solid pseudopapillary tumor. The biopsy will not be complete, however, for five to seven days. The surgeon also noted that the nearby lymph nodes did not look bad, which is a relief because initially the CT scan had raised some concerns regarding their enlargement.

Thank you all again for your prayers. Ashli’s family is greatly comforted by the way things appear to be turning out. Please continue your prayers for a full recovery.

Ashli’s pancreatic surgery will go forward today. She’ll likely be in intensive care, unconscious, for two days after the operation. I’ll post updates about her condition here as soon as I get the information.

Ashli took her children, Emmil and Elise, for a photo shoot at the Maclay Botanical Gardens in Tallahasee last Thursday. Below is one of the pictures to help you think about Ashli and her family as you pray for her health.

BONUS PICTURES: One is Elise in 2004 and the other is Ashli 1971; it shouldn’t hard for you to tell the mother from the daughter.

I didn’t need to see baby pictures to note the resemblance. There is no mistaking who Elise’s mom is but Emmil looks like her, too. It has been such an agonizing wait for this day and I am thinking of Ashli and praying for as routine a surgery and easy recuperation as possible. We know she is in the best hands, both human and divine.

RT – Thanks for the update! Praying that most recent surgeon observations remain unchanged throughout the biopsy, for Ashli’s rapid recovery and for continuing comfort/strengthening of faith for her family.
