This comic used to be funnier when Snoopy was in it.

Also, since suicide is a sin, Hitler in this comic would be in pergatory milking demon cats.

I guess Iran is going to have a Christian/Jew bashing cartoon contest.
Now that’s not really fair if all they have to do is reproduce their school books.

Holy shit, Lucy; I just figured it out. The whole “I can’t write because I can’t handle proper English and I believe that a character from a collaborative self-contradictory novel actually lived in reality” ruse is nothing more than an elaborate joke.

I apologize for taking you seriously there before; you obviously couldn’t really mean any of the steaming bovine excrement that you’ve been vomiting all over the Internet. Silly me.

    Oh well. Atheist Pride.

Well, one thing can be safely said in regards to this post. Either those responding are rude, or so insecure that they must put others down in order to raise their own self-esteem. Intellectual debate is not furthered by name-calling, or derogatory personal remarks. There is an old proverb that sums this up: Better a meal of vegetables where there is love, than a fattened calf with hatred or a quote from Ralph Sickman may say it even better: ““Nothing is so strong as gentleness, and nothing is so gentle as true strength.”
Next time someone states that a person is vomiting “steaming bovine excrement” all over the internet, you may want to ask them, “and which of your personal experiences lead you to this conclusion?”

    Your blog, right column, says:

“A hate site is one which explicitly attacks a person or group based upon race, gender, sexual orientation or creed.”

Does that make this a hate site? Looks like you are attacking creeds, aren’t you?

I really don’t get these cartoons. I mean, they are intentionally blasphemous & meant to be offensive: Hitler & Jesus are buddies; Christianity, Islam, faith are stupid, I get all that. But they’re supposed to be satirical, right? But effective satire has to make sense, and point to real absurdity in a thing.

When the cartoonist is actually comprehensible here, his “satirical” point bears no relation to the faith I as a Catholic hold. I grant you, the crude judgementalism and self righteousness that the cartoonist seems to be trying to mock does exist in the world, and among Christians. But you really think that the vast majority of devout Christians’ faith is crudely satirizable as this? Pleez.

The fact is that God, should he exist, will judge. I’ll leave the question of Hitler’s, the cartoonist’s, Bernie’s, the Muslims’ and Jew’s eternal destiny to him. Most Christians of any wisdom and sensitivity do (which is in keeping with Catholic teaching, btw.)

I would suggest, however, that it is juvenile, crude and rather stupid to mock other people’s faith. Over a billion muslims. Two billion Christians. Then there’s the question of mocking God himself. I know you sophisticates claim to believe he doesn’t exist. He may not. But since you can’t prove it, wouldn’t the wisest default position be not to blaspheme him?

    Cheers.

  31. jahrta
    February 15th, 2006 @ 10:21 am

No, grasshopper. The wisest default position is to ridicule, mock and dismantle stupidity in all its forms, so that it may not rear its ugly head to attack those of us in society who choose not to believe in fairy tale nonsensical bullshit. The most recent and vibrant example of the damage that idiocy can wreak on society is when thousands of psycho-affected idiots riot, call for the deaths of artists, loot and pillage in response to a series of CARTOONS that mocks them and their holy figure as violent and unreasonable.

The satirical point being made in the above cartoon (which I found to be quite obvious) is that many christians claim that anyone can get to heaven if they repent, and it has been asked on numerous occasions that if Hitler repented on his death bed for the 6 million plus lives he destroyed, could he gain access to heaven? The answer we get from these people is usually “yes,” and the hypocrisy further angers us because the bible (NT) claims that jews are going to hell (which is funny, considering the OT claims the exact opposite – nice how these things can be rewritten to suit the particular prejudices of the time, isn’t it?).

If I were god and I had sent “the word” to the people, and those people chose to butcher it, I think I’d be pissed. This is a point usually leveled against those who have abandoned their faith, but I think it can be leveled just as easily against those who have adopted any of the myriad varieties available today.

‘But you really think that the vast majority of devout Christians’ faith is crudely satirizable as this? Pleez. ‘

    Most of them yes.

‘The fact is that God, should he exist, will judge.’

Why?How could you possibly know this? It’s equally likely he wouldn’t or can’t.

    ‘Two billion Christians.’

Thats an overcount. The Catholics count everyone born into their churches event he ones that leave and are counted by other churches.

‘Then there’s the question of mocking God himself. I know you sophisticates claim to believe he doesn’t exist. He may not.’

It depends on which version. Would God have such an ego he couldn’t appreciate humor? Or is your God insecure that he can be belittled? If he’s perfect none of this bothers him.

‘But since you can’t prove it, wouldn’t the wisest default position be not to blaspheme him? ‘

Since you can’t prove God is not an insect shouldn’t you stop killing them?
